Alright, back in the saddle. Trying to give this blog another go. This time I went to the fairly new branch of La Esquina on the upper east side. Short story is it’s pretty good and you should try it. For the details read on below.
Miss You Guys
StandardI know it’s been quite a while since I’ve put anything on the site and I appologize. Work has been busy, and this passion project has been neglected. I feel a tinge of guilt with every buritto or taco I eat for not photographing and documenting where it falls on my arbitrary scale.
You have not been forgotten.
P.S. The Taco Bell Quesarito is pretty good.
Frozen Food: Red’s Chicken and Cheese Burrito
StandardFor my second installment of frozen food reviews I tried Red’s Natural Foods Chicken and Cheese Burrito. It was significantly better than my last frozen burrito. Read on for more.
NYC Taco News – Week of 6/14/15-6/21/15
StandardIt’s time for another weekly update on what’s happening in the world of taco news. Read on for the specifics.
- As I tweeted earlier, the next official set of emojis adds both a taco and burrito icons, I’m stupidly excited about this news. Link
- Today tried Taco Bell’s Cap’n Crunch Delights (pretty much a donut hole), surprisingly they liked it. Link
- NY Daily News posted an “Ultimate Summer Guide” for NYC restaurants, it included Cantina Rooftop. Link
- NY Daily News has also posted a guide to food festivals in NYC, which talks about Domo Taco (previously reviewed and loved) in a popup market at Greeley Square Park. Link
That’s it for this week.
Frozen Food: 365 Everyday Value Bean & Chicken Burrito

NYC Taco News – Week of 6/7/15
StandardHere are some headlines from NYC that have something to do with tacos, or at least Mexican food:
- CBS News reviews a taco truck called “Fast Food on the Way”, they don’t seem to like the fish tacos too much. Link
- Taco Bell starts serving alcohol at specific locations (in Chicago for now, but maybe NYC someday) Link
- Gwyneth Paltrow lists her 13 favorite restaurants in NYC, none of which are Mexican, making me like her slightly less Link
- The NY Times reviews Sayulita, calls it “Very Good”, bad news, it isn’t actually in NYC, it’s in Connecticut. Boo. Link
- Reddit votes for the best item on Taco Bell’s menu, but as of right now it isn’t a chalupa so no one there knows a thing. Link
- Not NYC but still interesting, a Del Taco customer didn’t like their burrito so they pepper sprayed the manager. Link
That’s it for this week, don’t expect anything more exciting next week.
Weekly NYC Taco News
StandardSince I’ve been slacking on reviews lately I’ve decided to start a weekly summary post of taco news in NYC. This will probably be pretty brief given not much happens every week for tacos. I expect to put in things like interesting new restaurants opening up, I actually can’t think of anything else, well we’ll see.

Wahaca – London’s Mexican Street Food Chain
StandardStarting off the reviews strong from across the pond. Today while in London I had lunch at Wahaca, part of a chain of Mexican street food restaurants. This restaurant was founded by Thomasina Miers, the 2005 winner of the UK MasterChef competition (the US version is one of my favorite shows). Enough background… time for tacos! Continue reading
